Does the thought of buying a gift for a friend or relative make you smile or does it stress you out? Is there a hiker or camper on your gift giving list? What can you give to the someone who already has everything? The secret of gift giving is not always the “what.” Many times the “why, when and how” make an ordinary gift the Perfect Gift. Continue reading to discover 5 sure-fire steps to giving the perfect gift to the outdoor enthusiasts in your life.

Step 1: Do Your Homework. This is the toughest of the 5 steps. Doing your homework means thinking about your outdoor enthusiast and what he or she likes about being in the backcountry. Are there any current or past outdoor interests? Perhaps he likes to fish or she likes to climb. Maybe you overheard the comment “I remember when I used to go camping every long weekend. I miss those days.” Our personal shopper service receives hints like this all the time. Chances are you already know their interests, so take a few minutes to think prior to shopping. There are loads of great outdoor gifts available.

Another part of your homework is to understand the relationship between you and your gift recipient’s outdoor hobbies. Last year I was camping with a dear friend who got mildly lost. After about an hour, he showed up in camp a little embarrassed – but safe. So the perfect gift for him before our next trip was a GPS unit. I also included a hand written coupon good for one free lesson and an extra set of batteries. The relationship we had allowed me to have a little fun with the gift giving. I did provide him with a quality gift and he uses it all the time.

Step 2: Speaking of High Quality. The best way to get the most enjoyment out of our backcountry experiences is to have good gear. When giving a backcountry gift, be sure it’s high quality. There are two gear buying rules to live by. First, only give gear you would use. And secondly, buy the best gear you can afford. Nothing derails good times in the great outdoors like bad gear.

Step 3: The Right Way to Give Certificates. Gift certificates can be an excellent choice for a gift. Here’s a great use of a gift certificate – I was fortunate enough to be on the receiving end of this story. A friend living across the country knew I loved to hike. He also knew from his own experience that you can’t just buy a backpack for someone else. Backpacks are a very subjective purchase. Instead of buying a me a pack and giving me the task of returning it in order to get the right one, he sent me a gift certificate AND he told me what to buy with it. So now I get the backpack I want and my friend has proven once again how well he knows me. I loved the gift. When giving gift certificates, tell the recipient what to buy with it.

Step 4: Seek Out Customer Friendly Retailers. This is especially important when purchasing a gift on-line. Make sure you are purchasing from a store with visible customer satisfaction and return policies. If your gift recipient needs to exchange or return a piece of gear, the process needs to be hassle-free. If the return procedure is clunky, the perfect gift just became imperfect.

Step 5: Timing is Everything. The best time to get “the birding binoculars I always wanted,” is not on your birthday or at Christmas time. The best time to get them is just before you go birding. The new backpack is a more thoughtful gift just prior to hiking the Grand Canyon than it is for graduation. The value of a gift is greatly increased when given at the right time. Surprise someone with a perfectly timed present.

Giving the Perfect BackCountry Gift is easy to do. Determining “what” to give is important, but so is knowing “why, when and how” to give. Make your next gift giving experience a good one. The outdoor enthusiast in your life is counting on it.

You have been dating someone and developed a serious relationship with them. You are both ready to consider moving in together and being a family. However, you have a concern about your children and how they will react to the new family member.

This can create a lot of turmoil and hostility within a relationship. Your children may think that they are being replaced or that this new person is taking over. It can leave them feeling very insecure or unloved. However, with some proper preparation and knowledge ahead of time, you can prevent or curb some of these issues.

Look at all aspects of the relationship. Try to see things through your child’s eyes. Take into account everything that they are feeling. It is not easy to suddenly find yourself sharing your parent full-time. There are many issues and concerns that the children are faced with. They are also giving up their space and allowing another person into their safe haven and their personal area. This can be terrifying in some situations.

Prepare your children ahead of time. There is nothing worse than finding out that there will be another family member added at the last minute when they are moving their stuff in. this can be a horrifying situation. It can also result in severe emotional issues and acting out behaviors. If you talk with your children and get their input and thoughts ahead of time, you can make the transition smoother. It can also make it less stressful and tense. Your children could even be willing to accept this person without much fuss at all. It is all in how the situation is presented.

Spend time with everyone that is involved in this new family system. You will want your children to have time to get to know your mate. They will be much more likely to accept the situation if they have spent time with the person. They get an idea of the person. They also start to develop a relationship and a bond. This is essential to having a happy family that has a new person being added to it. It can also give you a better idea of how your partner deals with your kids. You can find out if they are able to handle a full-time situation with children involved. This is very important as it ensures the safety and well being of your children. You do not find yourself faced with an issue of your children not being treated properly later on.

It is very possible to have a live in relationship and keep everyone happy. People combine families effectively all the time. However, it is all in how you approach and deal with the situation. You will ultimately determine if your relationship will survive or fail. Take the time to make things as easy and smooth as you possibly can. This will drastically increase the chances of a relationship that lasts for a long time and that is happy and without stress.

In any child custody case, the court decision always focuses on the “best interests” of the child. This is a great consideration whether an out-of-court settlement has been reached by both parents and their lawyers or a custody decision is made by a family court. What do the child’s best interests involve? Read on to learn more about how custody decisions are made based on this approach.

Essentially, the best interests of the child means that all discussions and decisions regarding the custody and visitation of a child are made with an ultimate goal: promoting and nurturing the security, physical and mental health, happiness, and emotional development of the child. Usually and ideally, it is in the best interest of the child to keep a close and healthy relationship with both parents. However, maintaining such a relationship can be difficult in some cases, and this can get in the way of resolving a custody dispute. If you are caught in the middle of a custody conflict, it is important that you focus on making decisions based on the best interest of your children. This will definitely affect your children’s lives and your relationship with them in the future.

There is no standard definition when it comes to a child’s best interests. To have a clear idea of what the best interest of a child really entails, it pays to know the factors that are taken into consideration in many custody cases.

• Physical and mental health of the parents
• Age and sex of child
• Wishes of the child if he or she is of the right age
• Religious considerations
• The relationship with & support from extended family of each parent
• Proof of alcohol, drug, or sexual abuse of each parent
• Emotional abuse or discipline from parents
• Stability of the home environment of each parent
• The child’s adjustment to community and school

The wishes of the child regarding his or her custody have a huge bearing in any custody decision. These preferences can affect the court decision as to who will get the custody of the child. However, it still depends on the state where the case is being heard. Under particular circumstances, some states allow the child to have a say in the hearings. In other states, the courts have the discretion to determine how much relevance it will put on the child’s preference regarding his or her custody.

The child must be legally competent to testify in court, meaning he or she understands what the child custody hearings are all about and knows the difference between truth and lies. When a child testifies in court, the judge does not directly ask the child if he or she would want to live with the father or the mother. Rather, the child is asked in a conversational manner to talk about life in school and home.

Oftentimes, the courts appoint a lawyer to represent the child. This setup allows the child to participate in the hearings without the unnecessary stress and tension of the courtroom.

The system of education in Dubai is not different from those of its neighboring Emirates. In fact, the system was established throughout the United Arab Emirates (UAE) right after the country’s independence in 1971.

In public schools, for example, Arabic is used as the medium of instruction, while English is the preferred second language. On the other hand, English is the medium of instruction in most of the private schools. All schools in Dubai, whether public or private, cater to both Emiratis and expats.

Accreditation of all schools in Dubai, as well as those in the six other Emirates, is the responsibility of the Ministry of Education of the UAE. In July 2005, the Dubai Education Council (DEC) was created, with the specific task of developing and enhancing Dubai’s education sector. This is to ensure that the quality of education in Dubai, at all its many levels, meets international standards. The mandate is, of course, premised on that the cultural and social values should not be lost in the process.

Preschool and Primary Education:

Upon reaching the age of five, a child has to attend nursery school prior to entering the six-year primary school. Entrance tests are conducted in some of the private primary schools in Dubai. Among the most popular primary schools there are those that teach the British curriculum. Three of these are the Dubai English Speaking School, the King’s School, and the Jebel Ali Primary School.

Preparatory and Secondary Education:

Upon completion of the six-year primary education, the child (usually he or she is 11 years old by this time) moves to the three-year preparatory school. From here, the child (now in his/her teens) goes to secondary school. The child will have to take a basic exam for the purpose of evaluating his/her educational aptitude.

There are now many K-12 schools (short for Kindergarten through Grade 12) in Dubai that offer the American syllabus. Three of the most popular ones are the American School of Dubai (ASD), the Dubai American Academy (DAA), and the Universal American School (UAS).

Higher or Tertiary Education:

It used to be that the availability and standard of post-secondary education in the Emirate were limited. Because of this, many expats chose to send their children back to their country for further education. Today, however, Dubai boasts of many foreign-accredited universities.

Five of these universities are enumerated here: the Hariot-Watt University (of Scotland), the University of Wollongong in Dubai (an affiliate of the University of Wollongong in New South Wales, Australia), the Mahatma Gandhi University (of India), the Al Ghurair University, and the British University of Dubai.

Also, the Michigan State University Dubai (MSU Dubai) now offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs much like those offered by the MSU in its East Lansing, Michigan campus.

The costs of sending children for education in Dubai vary a great deal. While getting an education in a public school is generally free, it can be very expensive for those planning to send their children to a private school.

Schools in Dubai are closed in the months of July and August for the long summer holidays.

Some people find themselves at a point in their lives where they have no desire for a serious, fully committed relationship. These people are looking for casual relationships. They do not want all of the responsibility and extra stuff that comes with a serious relationship. They are happy to just casually date and spend time with many different people.

Casual relationships can work well for some people. They are free to explore and have fun. If someone has commitment issues they do better with things being casual. There is no pressure on them. If you find other people that are looking for casual relationships, you will find that everyone is happy. They are all getting what they want. It becomes a win-win situation.

There are some negative aspects of a casual relationship. Some people may not agree with your decisions. They may frown upon the fact that you are dating different people. If you come across someone that you go on a date with and they are looking for more from the relationship, they will end up disappointed and possibly hurt. Also, you have to realize that the people that you are dating are also dating other people. If someone has problems with jealousy a casual relationship can quickly turn bad.

People that are involved in casual relationships do not have the bond and closeness with their partners. They are spending time with different people. They do not get an opportunity to really get to know someone very well. There is often no love or deep emotional connection between the daters.

However, if one partner starts to develop stronger feelings, this can create a bigger problem for everyone. They are essentially breaking the whole principle of casual dating. They are also putting their partner that they want more from in an awkward position. If this partner is not ready for more, the relationship can end in a negative way.

There are also times when a casual relationship works well. If someone has gone through a divorce or gotten through a bad relationship and is not ready to fully commit to someone else, they could enter into casual relationships. They are dating and having a good time. However, there is no pressure to commit or make a decision on someone to replace their old mate.

If they are simply looking for someone to spend time with and to fill the emptiness and void that was left by their ex, a casual relationship will give them what they want. They are not lonely, but they are not committing to someone else before they are ready either. It is a way to take the time that they need, but also to work through some of their feelings and have some happiness at the same time.

No matter what the reasoning is, a casual relationship is an individual decision. You have to think about it and decide what you want. If you are not ready for any serious commitments, then consider a casual relationship. It can work well and benefit you and others that are looking for the same thing.

There is no need to get 4 season tents for gentle summer camping. Even if there is a heavy downpour, the use of sleeping pads combined with adequate planning should keep everything fairly dry. The important thing is to not camp at the bottom of a hill, to make sure the rain fly is secure, and to take advantage of natural cover.

But, a four season tent can be a nice thing to have for extreme conditions, and if you have the money to spend on one, it is a luxury that can really improve your camping experience.

Basically, the difference between 4 season tents and regular tents is that a 4 season tent is tighter, with heavier outer walls. When it is all zipped up, there is no space anywhere for the elements to get in.

In addition, 4 season tents are often stabler so that they can resist extremely heavy storms if need be. This does not mean, however, that you cannot use 4 season tents in nicer weather. Many styles of 4 season tents come with the ability to unzip the outer fly so that you can keep cool on summer days, while still braving near-arctic temperatures in the winter.

You will find, however, that the more extreme the conditions for which it was designed, the more specialized a 4 season tent will be. For example, some true mountaineering 4 season tents are not things that you would like to take camping on a warm summer night.

The ventilation panels are small, with the result that it will be stuffy and hot at night if you are camping during the summer with them. Additionally, they are made of heavier, stronger material, and as a result are an added burden for your normal camping trip.

And of course, good 4 season tents can be prohibitively expensive, running upwards of $500 dollars sometimes. Compare this to a 1-2 person summer tent that you might buy at your camping store.

I got mine for $30 dollars and, although it provides little warmth, it works alright during the summer when combined with a decent sleeping bag.

The truth of the matter is, it is important to think about what you will be doing before you go out and buy expensive mountaineering equipment and 4 season tents that you will not need. You must make sure that your equipment fits its purpose.

Some people are attracted to members of the opposite sex that have a significant age difference from them. They may prefer dating someone that is younger or older. This is often a matter of personal preference and there are many reasons that people choose these relationships. It is dependent on the individual person and their life.

In most cases, women are attracted to older men. This may be due to the fact that women mature at a younger age than men. In order for women to date a guy that is as mature as they are, they have to resort to older men. For some women, younger men that are less mature are not an issue.

They enjoy having a relationship with them and it all works out fine for both people. However, for some women having a mate that is less mature is almost like having a child. They do not want to have to mother their partner. They want the compatibility and the even keel. Again, this is all a matter of personal preference.

Men also have attractions and relationships with females that are a different age than them. Again, the reasons are just as diversified. They may seek an older or younger woman depending on their preference. They may also look for someone that is around the same age.

Some men that are less mature like to find a woman that is closer to their maturity level. In this situation, they would most often date a woman that is younger than them. This would help them to feel that they are fulfilling their role as the man of the relationship.

It is hard to present yourself as a strong man and as being capable of caring for your mate in a relationship, if you are not mature enough to fulfill this role. However, there are also some men that seek older women to have a relationship with. They want the mothering type of relationship and they want to be able to act a little less mature and be taken care of themselves.

For some people age has no influence on them at all. They date people based on their attraction or traits that they are looking for. They are compatible with a person and want to spend time with them. There are times that they will not even know how old the person that they are talking with is for awhile. They are not worried about age. There is no factoring of age to consider.

These people are sometimes the happiest and in some cases have the best relationships. This is due to the fact that they are not into trivial things and they are really looking for personality and internal traits. They are not worried about looks, age, or other trivial factors.

Every person is different. You may have to date people of different ages to determine what is best for you. If you are new to the dating scene, it is especially important to determine what works best for you. This is important to determine before you try to get involved in a serious relationship. If not, you are setting yourself up for failure and misery.

Among the seven states, or emirates, in the United Arab Emirates, Dubai is considered the most vibrant and richest. This is not without a basis, as Dubai has lately been in the forefront of progress in the Middle East region. It has several super real estate projects simultaneously being constructed, is host to some of the richest sporting events in the world, and is a top tourist destination.

With all these taking place in Dubai, its retail business has likewise shot up tenfold or more. The emirate has become a preferred choice of place for shopping at least in the Middle East, if not the entire world.

The places to shop in Dubai are too many to mention here. There are the Al Ain Plaza, the Al Bustan Centre, and the Al Khaleej Centre, to name a few.

From the long list, shoppers may find these three as among the best places to shop in Dubai:

The BurJuman Centre Dubai:

This shopping mall is located at Khalid Bin Waleed Street in Bur Dubai. It has an area of 74,322 square meters (800,000 square feet) and is home to some 190 retailers, mostly of well-known American and European brands. These include Polo Ralph Lauren, Louis Vuitton, Donna Karan New York (DKNY), Christian Lacroix, and many other designer fashion brands.

The mall also houses a number of restaurants, cafes, a food court, and amusement sections. Some of the features recently added to the mall include a mother and child centre, a customer care service, valet parking, and a tourism information booth.

The Century Mall:

This shopping mall is located in the Al Mamzar area, next to the Al Shabab Club. It has an area of 13,935 square meters (150,000 square feet). Topping the list of products being sold in the mall are electronic devices and telecommunication accessories. Also on sale are home furnishings, jewelry, fashion, and health and beauty products.

A children care center, called Jungle Bungle, provides the necessary services to make shopping more enjoyable for parents. The center has a seating capacity of 240, and has several adjoining food outlets. The children learn while they play, and this takes place while their parents are doing their shopping.

The Emirate Towers Boulevard:

This mall sits on a 13,050 square meter (140,469 square foot)-area and houses some 45 retail outlets. Items on sale include the latest in fashion, accessories, and electronics. Designer brands include Giorgio Armani, Veneta, and Gucci.

Body care facilities, a sauna and steam room, cafes, and restaurants complement the shopping environment. To meet the increasing demand for parking spaces, the mall introduced a new parking system.

There are several more great places to shop in Dubai. Tourists have these other options: Dubai Spice Souk, Souk Madinat Jumeirah, Twin Towers, Deira City Centre, Jumeirah Town Centre, Bani Yas Square and Deira Tower, Deira Gold Souk, and Lamcy Plaza Dubai.

Dubai indeed has gone a long way from being a small trading town to the prime shopping center in the Middle East it is now.

A child custody case could be draining for the heart, for the mind and for the soul. This is not only on the side of the parents but of the child as well. But since this is inevitable when separation or divorce happens, parents could not do anything but to prepare themselves for the battle head on.

For parents who are about to face a child custody case, the best way to go about it is to prepare. This process may entail gathering as many pieces of information on child custody but also dealing with certain financial aspects such as budgeting for the fees needed in legal procedures administered by lawyers.

But more than the material or financial aspects, parents should be able to prepare themselves emotionally even before the child custody hearings take place. This will ensure that you are one hundred percent focused on your goal and that no distraction will hinder you in getting the custody of your child.

Emotional stability is a must

If you are one of those who have just realized the importance of emotional stability and would want to start it but you just don’t know how, here are some of the things that can help you before you face a tiring child custody battle:

- Re-assess yourself would be the first thing to do. Many people think that they know themselves already that is why they decline to do self-assessment regularly. Experts say that these people don’t realize that the more that they decline doing self-reassessment, the more that they get stuck to their own routine which leaves them lesser room for improvement. If you want to start with stabilize your emotions, it is best that you know yourself very well. If you know yourself well, you will know your weaknesses as well as your strengths. Once you were able to identify all of these, it will be easier for you to set goals for yourself that are within your reach and your capabilities. Knowing one’s self will also enable you to take note of your weaknesses and find ways on how to overcome, manage, and deal with them. The same works for your strengths because you might even find a way on how to improve them.

- Keep track of your progress on a regular basis. Monitoring how well or bad you are doing will help you maneuver things that find ways that would best work for you. For a person who is preparing for a draining emotional battle, it is best to keep track of how you are doing so you will know where are the areas that you should improve on and what are the things that you should continue doing.

If you are able to develop a good outlook in life before the child custody case, everything will start falling into their proper places. In fact, your child, your ex spouse and even the family court judge might even be surprised of the things that were able to accomplished in that span of time.

Dubai is a place that is known worldwide for its many “firsts” and “bests”. We hear about Dubai’s famous tourist attractions, festivals and events, and recreation and sports facilities. All these make Dubai a highly preferred tourist destination.

Finding a place to eat in Dubai is not a problem at all. Whatever one’s nationality, he or she will surely find a dining place that serves his/her favorite back home. Some of the best restaurants in Dubai are located right inside a hotel, and these include the Benjarong Restaurant, Verre Restaurant, Le Venezia Restaurant, Blue Elephant Restaurant, Bacchus Restaurant, Ashiana Restaurant, and Al Qasr Restaurant.

The Benjarong Restaurant:

This restaurant is ideal for those who enjoy authentic Thai food. The restaurant’s specialties include fried lobster with shitake mushrooms, grilled river prawns, and Ka-Thong Tong (rice pastry cups filled with a mixture of ground chicken, peanut and coconut milk) with tamarind or lemon sauce. The Benjarong Restaurant is located on the 24th floor of the Dusit Dubai Hotel in Zayed Road.

The Verre Restaurant:

This is considered one of Dubai’s finest restaurants with its wide range of international cuisine (Western and Asian) and an exotic selection of wines. The Verre Restaurant is located at the Hilton Dubai Creek Hotel in Baniyas Road.

The Le Venezia Restaurant:

Besides being one of the best restaurants in Dubai, the Le Venezia Restaurant is also one of the newest and most frequented. It has an Italian theme with its noticeable design of gondolas and waterways. The food served here are, of course, Italian favorites, such as pizzas and pasta. This restaurant is located at the Metropolitan Hotel in Sheikh Zeyahid Road.

Blue Elephant Restaurant:

Another one of the fine restaurants in Dubai that serves authentic Thai delicacies. It is popular for its somtan (fried fish with papaya salad), lamb in rich Massaman sauce, and chicken satay, among others. The Blue Elephant Restaurant is located at the Al Bustan Rotana Hotel.

The Bacchus Restaurant:

This is also an Italian-style dining place. It has outdoor dining setting and serves a fine selection of pasta, salads, sandwiches, ice cream, and juices. It also has an exotic selection of wines. The Bacchus Restaurant is located at the Fairmont Hotel.

The Ashiana Restaurant:

When it comes to serving Indian cuisine, this restaurant is one that stands out in Dubai. It is frequented by both tourists and locals. The Ashiana Restaurant is located at the 5-star Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel and Towers.

Al Qasr Restaurant:

This restaurant is famous for its fine Middle East cuisine, particularly those from Lebanon. Some of the favorite dishes that are served here include Shanklish (cheese made from sheep’s or cow’s milk), Baklava (sweetened nut-filled pastry), and Labneh (strained yoghurt). The Al Qasr Restaurant is located within the Dubai Marine Beach Resort and Spa complex, one of the most popular 5-star hotels in Dubai.

The best restaurants in Dubai are not necessarily only those that are located inside a hotel. The Biella Caffe Pizzeria (Wafi City Mall, Bur Dubai), Planet Hollywood (Wafi City), and Hatam Restaurant (Bani Yas Street) are just some of the other fine dining places tourists can try while traveling in Dubai.
